Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE: Stainless steel for a bipolar plate of a polymer fuel cell and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to obtain stainless steel with low interface contact resistance and improved corrosion resistance by reforming a passive film without deep erosion or pitting corrosion. CONSTITUTION: Stainless steel for a bipolar plate of a polymer fuel cell comprises C of 0.02 weight% or less(0 is exclusive), N of 0.2 weight% or less(0 is exclusive), Si of 0.4 weight% or less(0 is exclusive), Mn of 0.2 weight% or less(0 is exclusive), P of 0.04 weight% or less(0 is exclusive), S of 0.02 weight% or less(0 is exclusive), Cr of 25-34 weight%, Mo 0-0.1 weight%(0.1 is exclusive), Cu of 0-1 weight%, Ni of 0-0.2 weight%(0.2 is exclusive), Ti of 0.5 weight% or less(0 is exclusive), Nb of 0.5 weight% or less(0 is exclusive), and Fe and inevitable impurities of the remaining amount. The stainless steel has an interface contact resistance of 10mΩcm^2 or less and an atomic ratio of 0.4 or greater in a range from the surface to 2nm.
