PIM SOURCE GENERATOR

PURPOSE: An apparatus for generating a PIM source is provided to measure a distance of a pre-installed transmission cable by coupling a simply PIM source generating unit including a nonlinear element to a termination of a transmission path. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for generating a PIM source includes a bi-directional coupler(41), a diode(43) of a nonlinear element, and a termination(42). High frequency signals having different frequencies outputted from a PIMD(Passive Inter-modulation) measurement system are transferred to the bi-directional coupler. A certain amount of the high frequency signals is transmitted to the diode of the nonlinear element. The diode generates reflected waves consisting of the sum and difference of two signals by non-linearity. The reflected wave is retransmitted to an inside of the PIMD measurement system through the bi-directional coupler. The PIMD measure system measures a distance of a transmission path through the reflected waves.
