Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE: A power supply device and a control method thereof are provided to discharge both ends of a capacitor by turning off first and second switches. CONSTITUTION: A power supply device comprises a converter(106), an SMPS(switching mode power supply)(110), a capacitor(108), a PTC(Positive Temperature Coefficient) element(112), and first and second switches(114,116). The converter converts AC power into DC power. The capacitor connects the SMPS to the converter. The PTC element is connected to the input part of the converter. The first switch is connected to the PTC element. The second switch is connected to the first switch in a line between the first switch and the converter.
