Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE: An electrode catalyst for a fuel cell membrane-electrode assembly is provided to have high hydrogen oxidation activity by the rise of catalyst components and a synergy between palladium and tungsten carbide without using a platinum catalyst of high cost. CONSTITUTION: An electrode catalyst for a fuel cell membrane-electrode assembly comprises tungsten carbide and catalyst component. The catalyst component comprises Pd and another metal catalyst component. The another metal component is one or more mixtures selected from a group consisting of Ni, Ir, Co, Mn, Au, Fe, and Ag. The tungsten carbide has the specific surface area of 10-30 m/g. The content of the tungsten carbide is 60-95 weight% on the basis of total weight of the catalyst. The content of the catalyst component is 5-40 weight%.
