Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE: A method for preparing 5-acetamido-N,N'-bis(2,3-dihydroxypropyl)-2,4,6-triiodoisophthalamide is provided to reduce the amount of expensive acetic anhydride consumed per batch and to lower manufacturing costs by replacing some acetic anhydrides for inexpensive acetic acids. CONSTITUTION: A method for preparing 5-acetamido-N,N'-bis(2,3-dihydroxypropyl)-2,4,6-triiodoisophthalamide("Compound A") uses 1.5-3.0 liter of acetic anhydrides and acetic acids as a reagent and a solvent mixture per 1 kg of 5-amino-N,N'-bis(2,3-dihydroxypropyl)-2,4,6-triiodo-1,3-benzenedicarboxamide("Compound B") for acetylation of compound B. In acetylation, the reagent and solvent mixture are distilled and reused.
