Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE: A method and a device for recognizing an earphone of a portable terminal are provided to prevent malfunction for a switch operation during a process of inserting a 3 pole earphone to a 4 pole ear jack. CONSTITUTION: An earphone is connected to an interface unit(150). If connection of the earphone is detected, a controller(100) determines whether to press a switch key of the earphone according to changes of a current of a specific terminal and a voltage of another different end. The controller executes a switch operation by pressing the switch key. An audio processing unit outputs an audio signal to the earphone by control of the controller.
