APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR INPUTTING LETTERS IN DEVICE WITH TOUCH SCREEN

PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for continually inputting a key by using an optical mouse sensor in computing equipment are provided to minimize character input time with a finger and enhancing usability when inputting a character on the touch screen. CONSTITUTION: When entry of a character input mode is detected, a display unit(106) displays a 2x6 virtual keyboard which 5 character elements are arranged on a key button. When a drag input having a direction is detected after touchdown on the key button, an input unit(104) inputs element arranged in a target direction among 5 elements of the key buttons. The 5 character elements are arranged in center and up and down left right of one key button. The character element includes at least one among Korean, capital of English, small letter of English, special character and numbers.
