PURPOSE: An input unit for a portable device is provided to reduce the number of key input for inputting Korean characters by differently setting the size of pressure generating input signals according to a first input unit of a pressure sensor mode and a second input unit of a dome switch mode. CONSTITUTION: An elastic layer(12) with a uniform thickness is laminated between plates(11) which are separated with a uniform interval. Distance between the plates is varied by the pressure applied from the outside. A first input unit(10) generates an input signal according to the location and the size of the pressure due to the change of capacitance between the plates according to the change of distance between the plates by using a pressure sensor mode. A second input unit(20) is laminated in the upper or the lower of the first input unit. The second input unit generates an input signal. A first input character is inputted by the first input unit. A second input character is inputted by the second input unit.
