APPARATUS FOR INPUTTING CHARACTER

A character input apparatus is provided to enable a user to conveniently input characters by the minimum key manipulation without viewing inputted characters by outputting syllables in the key input order and input drag direction. A keypad(10) comprises keys for sensing the dragging direction after a key input. A memory unit(70) stores a plurality of key tables corresponding to each keypad according to the dragging direction, voice tables of syllables and inputted characters. According to the order of inputted keys and dragging direction, a controller(30) selects a phoneme to form a syllable, and then calls a voice signal corresponding to the formed syllable from the voice tables to output it to a voice output unit(50).
