Zusammenfassung:A gap control method, and a recording/reproducing method and apparatus are provided to record or reproduce data stably by controlling the gap between the lens unit and a recording medium. A gap control method comprises a step of detecting gap error signal corresponding to the gap between a recording medium and a lens unit(S20), a step of detecting the change of the gap error signal with varying the light focusing position on the recording medium by operating a focus control unit(S30), a step of determining the minimum value of the gap error signal corresponding to the minimum allowable gap between the recording medium and the lens unit(S40), and a step of adjusting the gap between the recording medium and the lens unit in order to maintain the set up gap error signal(S50).
