METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR BUTTER CONTROL IN A RADIO LINK CONTROL LAYER

A method for controlling a data buffer in a radio link control layer and an apparatus thereof are provided to prevent throughput degradation of data communications by changing a size of a transmitting window according to a size of a PDU(Protocol Data Unit) in a response mode operation of a 3GPP RLC(Radio Link Control) layer. An apparatus(500) for controlling a data buffer comprises a transmitting/receiving unit(510), a comparing unit(520), a control unit(530), a data buffer(540), and a PDU generating unit(550). The transmitting/receiving unit receives window size information from a receiving side. The comparing unit compares the window size information with a size of data stored in the data buffer. The control unit processes the data stored in the data buffer according to a comparing result of the comparing unit, and resets a transmitting window based on the window size information. The PDU generating unit generates RLC PDUs by dividing and connecting RLC SDUs(Service Data Unit) according to the window size.
