APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR PROCESSING IMAGE DATA BETWEEN HETEROGENEOUS NETWORK

An apparatus performing a video data according to a transmission or receipt direction between mobile communication network and IP network and a method thereof are provided to process video data in signal conversion gateway and determine the transmission direction between the IP network and the mobile radio communications network. A transceiver(410) provides a communications interface for communications with the mobile radio communications network and IP network. A session initiation protocol terminal and video data generated between the called terminal are sent and are received. Video data of the SIP terminal side received from the IP network is decoded from the transcoder(450) through the decoder(453). Encoded video data are transmitted with transceiver. The transmission direction determining unit(430) determines the stream direction of video data generated between the SIP terminal existing in the IP network and the called terminal existing in the mobile radio communications network. A controller(470) is determined that video data are received from the mobile radio communications network through the transmission direction determining unit.
