A thermally sprayed airtight protection layer of a metallic substrate is based on Fe, Ni, Al, Mg and/or Ti. The spray powder of the protection layer contains more than two components including the first silicate or the rock and the second metal powder and/or other silicate or rock, where the component of silicate or the rock in the spray powder has an alkali content less than 6 weight%.
