METHOD FOR SEARCHING INFORMATION AND SYSTEM THEREFOR

An information searching method and system which efficiently can process the merge of the posting lists about each query index are provided to attempt the additional increase in speed by dividing each posting lists into a plurality of sections and performing merge according to each section. An information searching method includes the steps of merging according to the section the posting lists corresponding to the respective question index and merging simply the merge results according to the section. The step merging according to the section comprises inspecting whether the document identifier included in the posting list belongs or not to the corresponding section and providing for user to the state that is the result generated with the simple merge step ranked according to the priority value of each document.
