ELECTRONIC BALLAST FOR HIGH PRESSURE INTENSITY DISCHARGE LAMP

An electronic ballast for the high pressure discharge lamp is provided to decrease the weight and size of the electronic ballast by inducing high voltage without an igniter circuit and to control the discharging lamp with a microcontroller. In an electronic ballast, a rectifying unit(301) filters the noise from a power supply and full-wave rectifying of inputted AC power. A boost type power factor correcting unit corrects power factor and supplies stable power to power converting unit(304) after boosting a voltage. A half bridge type electric power converting unit converts the DC power from the factor correcting unit to the high frequency AC power for the lamp output. An electric power converting unit includes a semiconductor switch(Q1, Q2) comprising the activeness functional unit(304-1) and reversed arranged diode(D4, D5).
