Zusammenfassung:	A standby circuit for an electric device, an electric device, a method of controlling the electric device and a power supply assembly for the electric device are provided to reduce power consumption of an electric device in a power decrease mode while maintaining a desired function of the electric device. A standby circuit(20) for an electric device includes at least one signal input(3,4,5). A remote control signal receiver, an on/off switch, an effective signal, a digital interface or a signal transmitter is coupled to the signal input. The standby circuit further includes a control unit(28) which combines different inputs to generate an output signal. The standby circuit further includes a control output for controlling a power supply unit(22). When the electric device is in a power decrease mode, the standby circuit is activated. The control unit activates the control output to switch on the power supply unit such that the electric device is switched over to a power increase mode.
