PLASMA DISPLAY AND DRIVING METHOD THEREOF

A plasma display apparatus and a driving method thereof are provided to prevent hard switching by applying scan pulses to scan electrodes during an address period using a capacitor. A plasma display apparatus includes scan electrodes, a scan IC(Integrated Circuit)(411), a third switching element, a fourth switching element, and a capacitor(C1). The scan electrodes supply a scan pulse having a first voltage and a second voltage lower than the first voltage. The scan IC includes a first switching element for supplying the first voltage to the scan electrodes and a second switching element for supplying the second voltage to the scan electrodes. The third switching element is connected between a second voltage source for supplying the second voltage and the scan electrodes. The fourth switching element is connected to a first end of the scan electrodes. The capacitor, connected to a second end of the first switching element, is charged by a third voltage between the first and second voltages.
