Zusammenfassung:	An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) and a backlight assembly are provided to compensate for the luminance of the outermost lamps, thereby improving the luminous uniformity of the LCD panel. Each of lamp power units(80), which is connected to a corresponding lamp to supply driving power to the lamp, includes an inverter, and a high voltage generator. The inverter converts direct power into alternating power, and the high voltage generator boots the voltage of the power inputted from the inverter. The corresponding lamp power units apply a first tube current to outermost lamps(76) positioned at both the outermost parts of an LCD panel, and a second tube current lower than the first tube current to the other lamps. And, the lamp power units control the tube current applied to the outermost lamps, thereby improving the luminance at a cold terminal(763) of each of the lamps.
