APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR RECORDING/REPRODUCING

An apparatus and a method for recording/reproducing are provided to carry out gap servo operation between an SIL(Solid Immersion Lens) and a recording medium, using a multi-divided photo detectors and a corrected gap servo signal so as to detect the contamination state of the SIL. A recording/reproducing apparatus includes an optical block, an actuator(120), and a control part(200). The optical block detects an RF signal of recording or playing data and a gap servo signal of controlling a gap between the recording medium and an SIL(Solid Immersion Lens,122). The actuator has the SIL and an objective lens(121). The control part controls gap servo operation of the actuator. The optical block includes a laser diode(110), a collimator lens(111), first and second polarized beam splitters(112,114), expanders(116), and a QWP(Quarter Wave Plate,117). The optical block also has first and second photo detectors(115,113).
