Zusammenfassung:	An optical power compensation method of a laser diode in an optical pickup is provided to prevent degradation of recording quality, which results from deterioration of the laser diode, by comparing a reference value and a light power setting value and compensating for the optical power of the laser diode by the difference between the values. An optical power compensation method of a laser diode in an optical pickup comprises the steps of: detecting a reference value by driving a laser diode and detecting the light intensity of the laser diode(S11,S12); driving the laser diode, using the set light power setting value(S15); detecting the light intensity of the laser diode and comparing with the reference value(S17); and compensating for an optical power set value of the laser diode by the difference between the values(S18).
