Zusammenfassung:	A display device and a driving method therefor are provided to apply smooth picturing technique automatically and set a smooth picturing value at an interval of half pixels of diamond-type pixels simultaneously and accurately. A pattern generating unit(140) generates the first test pattern and the second test pattern for setting a smooth picturing value of a display unit(130). An optical engine unit(120) projects the first test pattern on a certain position of the display unit, separates the second pattern from the first test pattern by a certain distance corresponding to at least one virtual smooth value, and projects the second test pattern. A control unit(160) successively changes the virtual smooth value, and provides the changed virtual smooth value to the optical engine unit. The control unit judges a synthesis size change of a region formed by the first and the second test patterns according to the change of the virtual smooth value, and sets a smooth picturing value of the display value by using virtual smooth values provided until a time when the synthesis size change is stopped.
