Zusammenfassung:	A secondary battery is provided to suppress direct transfer of external heat to an electrode assembly when the external heat is applied to the secondary battery, thereby preventing radical firing or heat generation phenomenons. A secondary battery includes a can(20) and an electrode assembly(10) accommodated inside the can. A separation member(40) is installed between an inner surface of the can and the electrode assembly. The separation member widens a gap(a) between the inner surface of the can and the electrode assembly by pressing the electrode assembly by a shape deformation which protrudes in a direction going away from the inner surface of the can upon heating.
