Zusammenfassung:A process for preparing a fluorinated alkane is provided to accomplish high efficiency and high cost-efficiency required for mass production, as well as high selectivity and high final conversion. A process for preparing a fluorinated alkane comprises at least two steps of converting a fluorinated olefin starting material into an unsaturated analogue of the olefin starting material under a condition effective for accomplishing an olefin conversion ratio of at least about 40 wt% and a selectivity to the unsaturated analogue of at least about 60%. The fluorinated olefin has 3-6 fluorine substituents, and includes hexafluoropropene or pentafluoropropene.
