METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PARTIAL IMAGE COMPOSITION IN PORTABLE TERMINAL

An apparatus and a method for partial image composition in a portable terminal are provided to reduce the amount of a necessary memory by dividing an image and composing the divided images, and accordingly improve performance of the portable terminal by enabling the other applications to use more memories in comparison with an existing method. An image composition method of a portable terminal comprises the following steps of: allocating a memory for storing an image where first and second images are composed(300); reading the first and second images with a respectively-preset block size(302); decompressing the read first and second image blocks(304); composing the decompressed first and second image blocks, and storing the composed image block in the allocated memory(306,308); and repeatedly composing the first and second image blocks until all of the preset blocks are composed(310,314).
