3D FACE CREATION/EXPRESSION SYSTEM AND METHOD

A 3D face creation/expression system and method using a PDA(Personal Digital Assistant) are provided to allow a user to generate a personal virtual character easily and use the character in a game, animation, messenger and a mail service. A controller(110) controls a general function of capturing the front end side images of a user by using a PDA camera, extracting control points of the captured front and side images, applying a normalized model to generate a customized 3D face that can be changed in expression, and displaying the 3D face on a screen. An image capturing unit(120) converts the front and side images of the user into digital images and transfers the same to an animation character generating unit(130). The animation character generating unit(130) applies the front and side images to a normalized model to generate a customized 3D face. An expression generating unit(140) express a face expression by applying a normalized muscle contraction value to the 3D face. A memory(160) stores the normalized model information and the normalized muscle contraction value. A display unit(150) displays the customized 3D face on a screen.
