INTERNET PROTOCOL TELEVISION SERVICE SYSTEM AND AUDIENCE RATING SURVEY METHOD THEREOF

An IP-TV service system and a method for surveying a viewing rate of broadcasts thereof are provided to solve a problem that data of a regular program are lost according as a TV broadcasting station has to insert an additional channel searching command into broadcasting program data by using a VBI. A set-top box of an IP-TV service system includes a channel input part(123) and a management information transmitting part(124). The channel input part(123) receives channel information selected by a user. The management information transmitting part(124) transmits the channel information to a server such that the server surveys a viewing rate by using channel information. The set-top box includes an ID management part. The ID management part stores and manages a set-top ID, which is an identification value given to the set-top box, and a user ID set by a user. The management information transmitting part(124) transmits the channel information, the set-top ID, and the user ID to the server to calculate the statistics of the viewing rate.
