COMPOSITION COMPRISING MELOXICAM HAVING IMPROVED BIOAVAILABILITY AND PROCESS FOR PREPARATION THEREOF

An anti-inflammatory composition comprising meloxicam is provided to improve the elution rate of water-insoluble meloxicam by promoting the dissolution, thereby improving the bioavailability of the meloxicam. An anti-inflammatory composition comprises a compression molding product of meloxicam and a disintegrant such as crospovidone, dried starch, sodium carboxymethyl starch, lowly substituted hydroxypropylcellulose, croscarmellose sodium, calcium carboxymethylcellulose, and pregelatinized starch. The composition further comprises at least one selected from the group consisting of a binder, an excipient, and a lubricant. A method for preparing the composition comprises the steps of: (a) mixing meloxicam with a disintegrant; (b) compression-molding the mixture; and (c) crushing and sizing the compression molding product.
