Zusammenfassung:A method and an apparatus for sewing a belt-shaped object are provided to make it unnecessary to detect the operating amount of a sewing frame, such as tensile strength and the number of stitches, thereby easily sewing the belt-shaped object on cloth. A length value of a belt-shaped object(3), which is sewed on cloth(2), and a tensile strength, which is applied to the belt-shaped object, are set correspondingly to each other. When the belt-shaped object is sewed on the cloth above a sewing frame(4), the transfer amount of the belt-shaped object and the tensile strength are sensed. While the belt-shaped object is transferred, the tensile strength is controlled according to the transfer amount of the belt-shaped object so that the corresponding tensile strength is applied to the belt-shaped object.
