Zusammenfassung:A method and an apparatus for improving the visibility of a treemap is provided enable for a user to recognize an overall structure easily by high-lightening a parent-child relationship at a hierarchical structure. A method and an apparatus for improving the visibility of a treemap includes the steps of: determining an offset orientation(505); determining an offset distance(510); offsetting a region corresponding to a current node(515); adjusting the size of the region(520); and adjusting a position(525). The offsetting step makes a portion of a boundary box be placed outside of a parent node region and each child region inside of the boundary box be partially or wholly placed inside of the parent node region.
