SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR INDEXING, SEARCHING, IDENTIFYING, AND EDITING PORTIONS OF ELECTRONIC MULTIMEDIA FILES

A method for generating a multimedia book mark and a system thereof are provided to add the book mark at an audio file and to search a segment or a part of a multimedia file easily by using the multimedia book mark with a search engine. A method for generating a multimedia book mark includes a step of selecting a specific position inside a multimedia file; a step of generating a title or an image indicating the specific position; a step of generating at least two types of information among positional information(212,218,224), content information(214,220,226), and metadata information; a step of linking the title or the image at the information distinguishing the specific position; and a step of keeping the generated information. A system for generating the multimedia book mark has a search mechanism. The search mechanism is responded to the information inside the multimedia book mark(210) to be accessed to the specific position inside the multimedia file without accessing a starting position of the multimedia file.
