Zusammenfassung:An LCD device and a driving method thereof are provided to compensate for the amounts of a leakage current from a thin film transistor as well as the amount of current charged to a storage capacitor, which is formed at each pixel, by the automatic variation of gate driving voltage based on brightness variation. An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) device includes a gate driver(130), an LCD panel, a backlight assembly(110), brightness detecting units(210,220) and a gate driving voltage generator(230). The gate driver generates a scan pulse in proportion to levels of gate high and low voltages. The LCD panel includes plural thin film transistors driven by the scan pulse at every pixel. The backlight assembly radiates a beam to the LCD panel. The brightness detecting units detect brightness of the backlight assembly. The gate driving voltage generator varies the level of the gate high and low voltages according to a brightness level of the backlight assembly.
