DUST COLLECTOR AND VACUUM CLEANER HAVING THE SAME

A dust collector and a vacuum cleaner having the same are provided to prevent dust from being dispersed by installing a pressing plate for compressing dusts using rotation of the pressing plate in an inner part of a dust container. A dust collector includes a dust container(220), and a pair of pressing plates(310,320). The dust container stores dusts. The pair of pressing plates reduces the dusts stored in the dust container to increase dust collecting capacity of the dust container. The pair of pressing plates interacts with each other to reduce the volume of the dusts. As a result, a density of the dusts stored in the dust container is increased to raise a maximum dust collecting capacity of the dusts stored in the dust container. At least one of the pair of pressing plates is movably installed in the dust container to compress the dusts between the pair of pressing plates.
