A vehicle navigation apparatus is provided to immediately mark a vehicle mark on a road where a vehicle passes when the direction of the vehicle is changed. A vehicle navigation apparatus includes a position detector, a map data input unit, a manipulation switch group, a control circuit connected to the position detector, the map data input unit, and the manipulation switch group, an external memory connected to the control circuit, a display, and an external information input and output unit. Whether change of traveling direction of a vehicle is finished based on updated traveling track data is determined(S140). When the change of the traveling direction of the vehicle is finished, traveling direction data of the vehicle at an entering position into an undetected region and traveling direction date of the vehicle at an exit position from the undetected region are extracted from the traveling track data(S150). Based on the undetected region entering position and the traveling direction data at the exit position, extracted in the step S150, whether the vehicle is U-turned is determined(S160).
