PLASMA DISPLAY DEVICE AND METHOD OF DRIVING THE SAME

A plasma display device and a driving method thereof are provided to reduce heat radiation of a plasma display device due to reactive power by suppressing the reactive power from increasing, when a slope pulse is supplied to a driving circuit. A plasma display device includes a PDP(Plasma Display Panel) and a slope pulse generating circuit. The PDP applies a sustain discharge voltage on a capacitive load on a display unit to display an image. The slope pulse generating circuit supplies a slope pulse to electrodes of the capacitive load. The voltage of the slope pulse varies as time elapses. The slope pulse generating circuit includes plural voltage sources(101,102) and a switching circuit(103). The voltage sources supply different voltages. The switching circuit selects one of the voltage sources and supplies a voltage to the electrodes of the capacitive load. The switching circuit changes the voltage source connected to the electrodes according to the supplied voltage.
