Zusammenfassung:	Provided is an emulsifier for emulsion polymerization, which does not contain a polyoxyalkylene chain as a hydrophilic group, has good stability during emulsion polymerization, and improves various characteristics of polymer and polymer film such as water resistance, adhesion, heat resistance, etc. The emulsifier for emulsion polymerization comprises a compound represented by the following formula(1), wherein R^1 represents a substituent represented by R or -CH2-O-R, R represents a hydrocarbon group, R^2 is a hydrogen atom or a methyl group, n is 1-200, and each X^1 and X^2 is a hydrogen atom, a hydrocarbon group, or an anionic hydrophilic group.
