A DISH WASHER AND METHOD OF CONTROLLING THE SAME

A dish washer and a control method thereof are provided to prevent humidity in a tub from increasing due to water gathered at a sump by intermittently operating a drain pump while drying dishes, and to shorten the drying time by lowering humidity in the tub while drying the dishes. A dish washer comprises: a control unit(200) for totally regulating operation of the dish washer according to predetermined electric signals; a key inputting unit(230) for inputting operated processes of the dish washer; a blowing fan(210) for discharging steam in the tub while drying dishes; a drain pump(191) for discharging cleaning water gathered at a sump to the outside; a driving unit(220) connected with the control unit to drive the blowing fan and the drain pump; and a memory unit(240) for memorizing standard values about the driving time/frequency of the drain pump. The control unit regulates intermittent operation of the blowing fan and the drain pump through the driving unit when the dish washer is operated in a drying process.
