Zusammenfassung:	A method and a system for biometric authentication are provided to authenticate a user through the biometric authentication by simplifying a process for issuing a medium to use a biometric authentication mode and reducing expenses for issuing the biometric authentication medium. An application server(3) transmits a biometric authentication application to a mobile terminal(1) by being accessed from the mobile terminal having a contactless and mobile communication function. A registration terminal detects biometric information of a mobile terminal user and records the detected biometric information to a storage area managed from the biometric authentication application of the mobile terminal by communicating with the mobile terminal downloading the biometric authentication application. A comparer compares detects and compares the biometric information of the user with the biometric information recorded in the mobile terminal by performing the contactless communication function of the mobile terminal.
