Zusammenfassung:A liquid crystal display(LCD) device and a method for supplying power to the same are provided to effectively supply electric power to the LCD device at low power consumption by changing the waveform of a power supply voltage and generating a driving voltage in response to the changed power supply voltage. Plural gate lines are arranged on one of two transparent substrates. A gate driver(20), a source driver(30), and a timing controller(40) are arranged in a single chip. The timing controller generates image data, horizontal and vertical synchronous signals, and control signals for the gate and source drivers. An LCD device(100) receives a DC voltage. A DC/DC converter(70) generates inner driving voltages for respective functional blocks of the LCD device in response to a rectangular DC voltage, which is generated by a rectangular voltage generator(90). An inverter generates a high voltage for turning on a backlight. The rectangular voltage from the rectangular voltage generator is not a pure DC voltage, but an oscillating voltage, which oscillates in a predetermined voltage range.
