WATER DETECTION COMPOSITION AND WATER DETECTION INDICATOR

A water detection composition and a water detection indicator are provided to improve safety of water detection and minimize adverse effects of water detection to human health and ecosystem by using a safe center element of a complex compound. The water detection composition comprises a porphyrin complex compound represented by the formula(I) and at least one inorganic hydrochloric acid selected from alkali metal, alkali earth metal, Al and Fe, wherein M is an element selected from Mg, Al, Si, P, Ca, Sc, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Ga, Ge, As, Mo, Ru, Rh, Pd, Ag, Cd, In, Sn, Sb, W, Re, Pt, Au, Hg, Tl, Pb and Bi; X is halogen or OR1; R1 is H or any substituent capable of substituting H; R2 is H or any substituent capable of substituting H; and the inorganic hydrochloric acid is chloride or sulfate of Ca or Mg. The water detection indicator is prepared by absorbing the water detection composition into a hygroscopic carrier, wherein the carrier is inorganic porous carrier such as silica gel.
