Zusammenfassung:	A backlight unit and an LCD are provided to improve the uniformity of irradiation color and brightness and enhance the efficiency of light, by disposing first and second guiding plates for mixing colors at both sides of a light source. First and second light guiding plates(2,3) are disposed to face each other. A light source(1) is disposed between the first and second light guiding plates. A diffusion plate(11) is disposed above the first and second light guiding plates and the light source. A hollow(12) is formed between the diffusion plate and the first and second light guide plates. First and second reflectors(6,7) introduce the light propagated from the light source through the first light guiding plate and the light propagated from the light source through the second light guiding plate to the hollow. The light entering the hollow is reflected from the interface between the hollow and the first and second light guiding plates, and emitted through the diffusion plate.
