APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING GLOW PLUG OF DIESEL ENGINE

An apparatus for controlling a glow plug of a diesel engine and a method of the same are provided to prevent the drop of the life span of the glow plug and reduce the arrival time of reaching the maximum heating temperature of the glow plug by containing the switching unit. An apparatus(200) for controlling a glow plug of a diesel engine is composed of a regulator(210) decompressing the batter voltage outputted at a battery(250) into a predetermined voltage according to the input of an ON signal of the starting key to output the voltage; a charge and discharge unit(220) connected to the regulator to receive the voltage outputted from the regulator when the starting key is ON, to charge the charge volume corresponding to the voltage, and to gradually discharge when the key is OFF; a controller(230) connected to the regulator and the charge and discharge unit and installed with a memory stored with an algorithm for computing the application time of the duty voltage and a process for driving the memory to compute the application time of the duty voltage with the remaining voltage of the charge and discharge unit when the key is ON; and a switching unit(240) connected to the controller, the battery, and the glow plug to control the communication of the glow plug of the battery voltage by switching under the control of the controller.
