ELECTRONIC DEVICE AND METHOD CAPABLE OF PREVENTING POWER CONSUMPTION DUE TO REGULATOR IN POWER-DOWN MODE

An electronic device and a method for preventing power consumption caused from a regulator in a power-down mode are provided to prevent the power consumption by completely disabling the regulator in the power-down mode. The regulator(201) generates internal voltage by converting power voltage. A register(202) outputs an enable or disable signal to the regulator. A CPU(203) receives the Internet voltage and makes the register generate the disable signal when the power-down mode is entered. An interrupt control unit(210) makes the register generate the enable signal by responding to one of an external reset or interrupt signal in case that an operation mode is returned from the power-down mode. The interrupt control unit includes an interrupt controller(212) outputting a signal of a specific level by responding to an external interrupt signal, an AND gate(213) outputting an internal reset sign logically multiplying an output signal of the register and the interrupt control unit, and a reset controller(211) making the regulator enabled by responding to the external or internal reset signal.
