Zusammenfassung:	A lamp (10, 11) for a motor vehicle headlight is described. The lamp (10, 11) comprises a quartz bulb (3, 12, 17) narrowly enclosing a light source (1, 2) and possibly an outer bulb (4) surrounding said quartz bulb (3). Negative lenses (7, 8, 14, 15, 16) extending in the direction of a longitudinal axis (L) of the lamp (10, 11) are present in or at the two lateral surfaces (6, 13) of the quartz bulb (12, 17) and/or of the outer bulb (4). These lenses (7, 8, 14, 15, 16) are designed such that the light source (1, 2) is optically reduced in size in at least one direction.
