ADAPTER DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To propose a general-purpose adaptor device usable even for various types of apparatuses. SOLUTION: When the adaptor 200 is attached on an apparatus, apparatus type information is returned from the apparatus on a request from a main processing unit 202. An apparatus type/operation mode detection processing unit 203 detects the apparatus type of this apparatus from the received apparatus type information. If the apparatus is one other than a PC, it is determined whether an object mounted on a network communication processing unit 206 corresponds to this apparatus, and if it corresponds, network processing is performed by this object. If it does not correspond, the apparatus type information received from the apparatus is stored in an apparatus information storing unit 204. After that, when the adaptor 200 is attached on the PC, the apparatus type information in the unit 204 is transmitted to the PC.
