Zusammenfassung:An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) and a method of manufacturing the same are provided to display high contrast by preventing optical leakage due to a stepped portion which controls thickness of a liquid crystal layer and exists between a reflective electrode and a transparent electrode. A reflective electrode(14) is formed at a reflection area(Ar1) on the first substrate(10) and a transparent electrode(15) is formed at a transmission area(Ar2) thereon. The second substrate(20) is placed apart from the first substrate by a predetermined gap. A liquid crystal layer(30) is formed between the first and second substrates. A gap adjustment layer(22), formed at the reflection area of the second substrate, reduces the gap and thereby adjusts thickness of the liquid crystal layer at the reflection area.
