PHARMACEUTICAL COMPOSITION COMPRISING THE EXTRACT OF ALLIUM TUBEROSUM ROTTLER WHICH REDUCES OXIDATION OF LIPID AND PROTEIN, AND INHIBITS OXIDATIVE STRESS BY INHIBITING FORMATION OF LIPOFUSIN IN THE EYE

PURPOSE: A pharmaceutical composition comprising the extract of Allium tuberosum Rottler is provided, which Allium tuberosum Rottler extract reduces oxidation of lipid and protein, and inhibits oxidative stress as a main factor causing diabetic complication by inhibiting formation of lipofusin in the eye, so that the pharmaceutical composition is useful for treating or preventing diabetic complication. CONSTITUTION: The pharmaceutical composition for treating or preventing diabetic complication comprises the crude extract or nonpolar solvent soluble extract of Allium tuberosum Rottler, wherein the crude extract of Allium tuberosum Rottler is prepared by using water, C1 to C4 lower alcohol or a mixture thereof; the nonpolar solvent soluble extract of Allium tuberosum Rottler is prepared by using hexane, chloroform, methylene chloride or ethylacetate; and the diabetic complication comprises one or more combination of coronary heart disease, arteriosclerotic heart disease, skin infection, microangiopathy, neuropathy, skin symptom, cataract, diabetic retinopathy, diabetic nephropathy and diabetic neuropathy.
