METHOD AND A SYSTEM FOR EFFICIENTLY STORING AND REGENERATING DATA IN A MULTIMEDIA SYSTEM, PARTICULARLY CONCERNED WITH RECORDING STREAM INFORMATION ONLY ON A DISK OF A DISK DRIVE WHILE STORING INFORMATION OTHER THAN THE STREAM INFORMATION IN A SPECIFIC STORAGE UNIT

PURPOSE: A method and a system for efficiently storing and regenerating data in a multimedia system are provided to store additional information for managing stream information in a storage medium different from a storage media for storing the stream information. CONSTITUTION: The system comprises an AV(Audio Video) system(210), a host buffer(220), an interface circuit(230), an HDD buffer(240), a disc(250) of the HDD, and a storage(260). The AV system(210) separates internally processed signals into stream data and non-stream data, and stores the separated data at the host buffer(220). The non-stream data includes a name, a size, and a position of a data file. Then, the interface circuit(230) reads the data stored at the host buffer(220), stores the non-stream data at the storage(260), and the stream data at the HDD buffer(240). The HDD reads the stream data from the HDD buffer(240), performs a signal processing for recording the stream data, and records the stream data on the disc(250) of the HDD.
