Zusammenfassung: | PURPOSE: An alignment layer comprising a polyimide polymer is provided to improve the anchoring force, to apply more increased elastic force to liquid crystals in a bulk zone and to reduce the time needed for erasing residual images, and thus to give a liquid crystal display device capable of realizing high-speed response. CONSTITUTION: The alignment layer comprises a polyimide polymer represented by the following formula 1, which has an azobenzene side-chain susceptible to photoisomerization by the light irradiated to the alignment layer. In formula 1, R1 is a substituted or non-substituted C3-C10 organic alicyclic group, or an organic group having a substituted or non-substituted C6-C14 aromatic ring; R2 is a substituted or non-substituted C3-C10 organic alicyclic group, a substituted or non-substituted C6-C14 aromatic ring, or an organic group having a substituted or non-substituted C6-C14 aromatic ring; each of R3 and R4 is a functional group containing an oxygen or nitrogen atom; and n is a positive integer. |
