Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE: A method for generating an SHWID(Strong HardWare ID) to control software use on a computer system depending on hardware changes is provided to minimize or prevent software piracy and illegal use of software escaping a license contract range, and allow a legal software user to upgrade the computer system. CONSTITUTION: Each component class in the first hardware configuration is identified(202). A class product is determined for each component class(206). A partial secret product is determined for each component class. Strong class IDs are formed by adding the class product and the partial secret to each component class.
