METHOD FOR OPERATING HIGH AVAILABILITY CLUSTER

PURPOSE: A method for operating a high availability cluster is provided to handle a failure causing a split brain situation, safely manage shared resource even if an owner of the shared resource faces the split brain situation, and update cluster configuration even if a part of cluster members is not reachable during cluster reconfiguration. CONSTITUTION: The first component(800) determines a configuration quorum. A configuration component(802) determines approval for updating the configuration by using information of the configuration quorum. The component(804) generates an operative quorum based on the information of the configuration quorum. A core resource operating component(806) determines a core resource and restricts operation of the core resource depending on the operative quorum. A core resource protecting component(808) prevents the core resource from damages against loss of the operative quorum. A cluster combining component(810) combines/divides the operative quorum and the cluster keeping the core resource.
